Tony brings a wealth of experience from within the marketing communications sector, not only across mergers & acquisitions, but also in a strategic advisory capacity. He has led transactions across all marcomms disciplines including Digital (Performance, Search, Social, eCommerce), MedComms, Advertising, Branding, Media, Research and Experiential.
Having started his career in investment banking with Midland Group and HSBC, he subsequently became CFO of the US tech company Unisys’ largest UK discipline. He moved into marketing services in 1997, leading a 3i-backed MBO and merging CLK and Michael Peters to create leading independent branding and communications agency, Corporate Edge. He further augmented the business with a number of strategic acquisitions, prior to selling the company to Australian listed Enero Group and realising an 11x return for investors.
Tony is a Chartered Management Accountant and Chartered Corporate Treasurer. He founded the multi-award winning M&A boutique Green Square in 2008.
Andrew qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant at HSBC, holding a key role in the Capital Financing team. He joined Credit Suisse in 1996 initially as FD of Operations and IT services, subsequently moving to Zurich as head of finance for the Investment Banking arm.
Andrew subsequently held a number of CFO roles, with experience not only in marketing services but also across software, retail and manufacturing. A mergers & acquisition and business planning specialist, he has undertaken change programmes expanding, restructuring and exiting businesses.
Andrew joining Green Square restores his working partnership with Tony Walford when they were both at HSBC and brings a wealth of practical and strategic input in advising and executing transactions.
Barry has 20 years experience within the marketing services sector, including nine years as Group COO at Naked Communications where he established offices across the globe prior to managing its sale to Australian listed marcoms group, Photon.
He subsequently became COO of Photon’s International Agency Division, establishing further operations in Sweden, Germany, India, Singapore and the Middle East. He also divested and merged various Photon businesses. Barry is an FCA having spent time with Kingston Smith, Andersen and Deloitte.
His days in professional practice afforded him great experience across assurance services, due diligence and post-merger integration for clients including WPP, Omnicom and Sky. Barry has advised across a range of enterprise values from small design agencies to a £1bn telco transaction.
Barry joined Green Square in 2012
Katy qualified as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG within the Information, Communication and Entertainment business unit. Since KPMG, Katy held senior financial roles within the media and marketing communications industry working across the direct marketing, sales promotion and TV post-production sectors. She then moved into the world of corporate finance, managing numerous successful sale transactions across PR, data, digital and brand consultancy disciplines, before becoming one of the founding partners of Green Square in 2008. Having left in 2011 to become a mother, she returned to the fold in 2014 as a consultant and is involved across a number of transactions as an integral part of the team.
Nick has run, grown and sold a variety of service, tech and creative businesses across Europe, North and Central America and thus is an excellent complement to the team.
Alongside his deep global expansion expertise, Nick has tremendous experience within strategic planning, leadership coaching, team incentivisation and preparing businesses for sale.
A solutions-driven, straight talker with a great sense of humour and amazing track record, Nick has worked with over 50 businesses in executive, advisory and investor roles.
Nick joined Green Square in 2022.
Jon was co-founder of SPA, an insight and data agency, which became the largest independent of its type in the UK before exiting to private equity and becoming Future Thinking – a buy and build business platform for data science, market research and insight. Under Jon’s tenure, Future Thinking undertook a €20m fundraise to drive European organic and acquisitive growth, increasing its revenue by 5 times. Employing over 300 people, with offices across Europe and MENA, it became one of Europe’s largest PE backed independent insight companies.
Having exited Future Thinking, Jon joined Green Square in 2021. Jon is also an adviser to the PE firm, Connection Capital, where he sits as non-exec on the board of IFF. Jon’s main area of expertise is M&A, growing and managing people businesses, post-acquisition integration, strategy and NXD roles. Jon enjoys cricket, cooking and live music.
Jason is a Chartered Accountant with a background at Grant Thornton and Deloitte. Since transitioning from practice in 2004, Jason has worked across the healthcare and consultancy sectors throughout EMEA and the US, focusing on his role as CFO for marketing and creative agencies. He specialises in helping founders drive growth, achieving remarkable success with EBITDA increases of over 500% in some cases.
Among his notable achievements, Jason successfully led Omobono’s sale to The Marketing Practice and was central to facilitating the acquisition of Given Agency by Anthesis.
With a keen attention to detail and a deep understanding of agency dynamics, Jason offers strategic guidance and business planning throughout the process, ensuring that agencies are well-prepared for due diligence and poised for a successful exit.
Jason joined Green Square in 2024.
Debbie brings a wealth of client service, marketing and research experience to Green Square. Having worked both agency and client side in a range of industries she contributes extensive international client management expertise to the mix. As an economics graduate, Debbie started her career with direct marketing agency FKB. From there she moved to Compaq Computers to specialise in dealer marketing strategy and subsequently market research. Having gained wide experience at management consultancy Lloydmasters, she moved to Green Square in 2015.
Bradley is a highly successful tech entrepreneur. Having founded e-commerce business E-Tale at the tender age of 26, he grew it rapidly by engaging major global blue-chip brands. Five years later he sold the business to NASDAQ listed ChannelAdvisor. Bradley and his team worked with Green Square on the journey from build to sale.
Bradley has since conceptualised and developed new platforms, including the employee advocacy content sharing platform, DSMN8. While Bradley is a technology enthusiast at heart, he remains pragmatic and focused on commercially sound, profit focused businesses. Bradley is also a dedicated dad, husband, vegan, and car enthusiast, Bradley is Green Square’s specialist tech adviser.
Jennie has held agency leadership positions in healthcare communications for nearly 25 years, as CEO of Havas Just:: and Managing Director of Chandler Chicco Agency. She co-founded Just::Health in 2006 and actively managed the business through periods of accelerated growth, with a focus on employee engagement and building a culture which enabled creative and brave thinking.
Having worked with Havas through an extended buy-out period and transitioning the Agency to new leadership, Jennie has recently started a Community Interest Company. Passion Partnership aims to accelerate social impact by promoting pro bono working between the not-for-profit sector and the communications industry. Passion Partnership matches and mentors pro bono partnerships and is building a community where those involved in pro bono can celebrate their success and share best practice. Jennie joined Green Square’s Trusted Counsel in 2023.
Paul joined Green Square’s Trusted Counsel in 2022 and has over 20 years’ experience working within creative services businesses. A Chartered Management Accountant, Paul advises on commercial behaviour change and business process improvement, together with commercial and transaction modelling through Green Square and his own consultancy, Red Dots.
Prior roles include CFO, UK & Europe, at Naked Communications and senior finance roles within Edelman, Jackie Cooper PR and Red Media. Paul spent 7 years with another M&A practice before joining Green Square and splits his time between the UK and the US.
Emma Crozier co-founded and led Just:: Health, a global health communications business, which was acquired by Havas in 2015. At Just::, she built an award-winning team, established a strong, differentiated culture and a reputation for pioneering disruptive thinking. She subsequently managed the transition of the business into Havas, both operationally and culturally.
Emma now supports businesses to grow, transform or reinvigorate. She consults on culture, structure, exit, business development, expansion into new markets, leadership development and coaches leaders and their teams. She rolls her sleeves up and delivers what’s needed for agency owners to achieve their aspirations. She loves what she does!
Emma is a Trustee of Dementia UK. She sits on the Young Dementia Network Steering Group and the Alzheimer’s Research UK Dementia Action Taskforce. She joined the Advisory Board of Green Square in 2022.
Robin is an agency transformation specialist and joined Green Square’s Trusted Counsel in 2022. He excels in understanding what differentiates an agency from its peers and is an expert in developing agency propositions, understanding and facilitating their market positioning and delivering growth programmes that drive success.
Robin is a True & North Accredited Facilitator, Co-Chair of BIMA’s Future Growth Council and a regular Marketing Week columnist.
Iain’s career has spanned many international agency directorship roles and he brings a wealth of experience to Green Square and its clients. Following Euro RSCG’s acquisition of KLP Group plc, where Iain was MD, Iain took the role of CEO, Euro RSCG Worldwide in 1992, subsequently becoming Executive VP of Havas in 2003. In April 2006 he founded AIM listed Mission Marketing Group plc, a company he built organically and via acquisitions including Bray Leino and April Six. He left Mission in 2011 to pursue an advisory career and currently holds a number of agency non-exec Chairman roles, many in private equity backed businesses. His specialises in business strategy, operational management and M&A across the digital, data, creative and content landscape.
David brings 25 years of executive management experience in the marketing services sector, and has the unique distinction of having set up, developed and subsequently sold two separate businesses. He co-founded BPRI which became the UK’s largest specialist B2B research agency that was sold to WPP. In a second professional life he was one of the founders of Circle Research, another B2B research agency, which having grown strongly, won a string of awards (including the prestigious MRS best agency award 2016) was sold to Next 15 plc. In addition David is a director of a League One football club, an external governor of the University of Portsmouth, a member of the Superbrands Expert Council and is an active guest speaker at business events. He brings a unique set of talents, clarity of thought and personality that assist Green Square and its clients throughout the process of Mergers and Acquisitions.
